Terms of Service

Effective July 8, 2026 · Version 1.0

The plain-words version

The full terms below are what legally applies. If anything here seems to conflict with them, the full terms win.

1. Who we are

CheckTwice (“CheckTwice,” “we,” “us”) operates the website and service at checktwice.app. CheckTwice is operated by a Hawaii limited liability company; our entity details will be posted here when state registration completes. You can reach us at hello@checktwice.app.

2. What CheckTwice is — and is not

CheckTwice is an informational service. You submit content — such as a text message, email, link, advertisement, or a description of a phone call — and we return an automated, AI-generated assessment of whether it shows signs of a scam, along with suggested next steps.

CheckTwice is not financial, legal, investment, or professional advice, and it is not a guarantee. Scams change constantly, automated analysis can be wrong in both directions, and a “safe” assessment does not mean something is safe. You agree that every decision you make — including any decision to send money, share information, click a link, or trust a person or company — is your own. For decisions involving money or sensitive information, independently verify with the real company or institution using contact information from their official website or the back of your card.

3. Plans, billing, and cancellation

We offer a free plan with a limited number of checks and paid subscriptions with additional features. Paid subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until canceled. Prices are shown before you pay, and we will notify you before any price increase takes effect.

You may cancel at any time, and canceling is as simple as subscribing. After cancellation you keep access through the end of the period you already paid for. Unless required by law, payments are non-refundable, but if something went wrong, email us — we would rather make it right than argue.

Paid plans include unlimited checks subject to fair personal use. Automated, scripted, or commercial-volume use of the service requires our written agreement.

4. Acceptable use

You must be at least 18 to use CheckTwice. You agree not to: use the service for any unlawful purpose; submit content you do not have the right to share; attempt to probe, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service; use the service to develop a competing product; or resell access without our written agreement. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these terms.

5. Your content

You keep all rights to the content you submit. You grant us a limited license to process it solely to provide the service — including sending it to our service providers (such as our AI provider) to generate your result. How we handle your content is described in our Privacy Policy, including what we do not do: we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models.

6. Honest limits (no warranty)

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that assessments will be correct, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that it will catch every scam. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law: our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses caused by third parties — including scammers — even if we assessed related content. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

8. Disputes and arbitration

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii. Any dispute that we cannot resolve informally will be resolved by binding individual arbitration in Honolulu, Hawaii, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules — except that either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court. You and CheckTwice each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.

You may opt out of arbitration by emailing hello@checktwice.app with the subject “Arbitration opt-out” within 30 days of first using the service.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. For material changes we will post the updated terms here with a new effective date and, if you have an account, notify you. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.
